Poisoned camel carcasses have killed 11 rufous vultures, seven tawny eagles and one silver jackal – all endangered species – in Kenya’s central Laikipia county, wildlife authorities have said.

The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) said an investigation to establish the source of the poison that killed the rare species is underway.

KWS said the endangered species died after they ate camel carcasses that were poisoned by pastoralists.

The carcasses were of two camel that were killed in the area by lions.
