Former Aviation minister of Nigeria and political analyst, Femi Fani-Kayode has criticised the Nigerian Police, suggesting that they are a long way from being properly schooled in handling violent situations.

FFK, as he is fondly called said this in a tweet Tuesday morning in response to the predicament that bedevilled the country’s immediate past Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu who was in Nuremberg, Germany for the annual New Yam festival of Nigerians in the diaspora.

He applauded the German police for calming the situation after which everyone went home peacefully, saying that if said predicament had happened in Nigeria, protestors would have all been shot by the police.

His wrote, “NUREMBERG: German police say IPOB has a right to protest and there have been NO arrests and NO investigation. They say they calmed down the situation and everyone went home peacefully. If this had occurred in Nigeria the protestors would have ALL been shot! We have much to learn!”

Senator Ike Ekweremadu recently took to his heels in Nuremberg when members of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) swooped on the venue of the cultural festival to unleash an unwarranted attack on him.

The senator was said to have arrived in a traditional jumper bearing the Nigerian coat of arms, which IPOB members saw as a reminder of a country they are fighting to break away from.
