The current atmosphere in Nigeria could be described as one of pandemonium and incipient fear as the country hits 2170 confirmed coronavirus cases. The 238 additional cases has Kano leading with 92 infected persons.

This newest figure announced by the country’s Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), as at the time of this report on 2 May, includes Nigeria on the list of top five African countries with the most cases.

According to the latest figures published by Worldometer, 3,415,237 cases have been detected worldwide, with 239,823 deaths and 1,087,190 people recovered.  

The top five African countries are; South Africa with 5,951 cases / 116 deaths, Egypt with 5,895 cases / 406 deaths, Morocco with 4,569 cases / 171 deaths, Algeria with 4,154 cases / 453 deaths and Nigeria with 2,170 cases / 68 deaths

Until press time on 2 May, Ghana was amongst the top five countries with a total of 2,074 cases and 17 deaths.
