At least 17 people were killed and 12 others were injured after a train crashed into a stationary maintenance train on Tuesday in southwestern Angola’s Namibe province, Chinese Embassy in Angola confirmed.

Two Chinese maintenance workers were among the dead.

Initial reports suggest that the incident was caused by human error.

The Chinese embassy has activated an emergency response operation after the incident and an investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.
