Pastor Enoch Adeboye has denied having a telephone conversation with the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, about the second term ambition of the Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode.

Pastor Adeboye, who is the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, in a disclaimer posted on his verified Twitter handle and Facebook page, stated that he “has not and would not be involved in inter /intraparty politics in Nigeria and anywhere RCCG is present across the world.”

The cleric, however, urged Nigerians to get their Permanent Voter Cards and exercise their civic duty.

A report on Saturday alleged that Adeboye had, in a telephone conversation with Tinubu, appealed to him to support Ambode’s second term ambition.

There had allegedly been a falling out between Ambode and Tinubu, which has led to the emergence of other aspirants on the platform of the APC in Lagos State.

WuzupNaija had also reported that Tinubu, who backed Ambode for the Lagos State governorship in 2015, had withdrawn his support for the governor and backed Jide Sanwo-Olu. Following Tinubu’s backing, 57 council chairmen in the state had also adopted Sanwo-Olu has the APC’s anointed candidate.

Our attention has been drawn to news making the rounds from dailies especially the New Telegraph Pastor E.A Adeboye, the General Overseer of the RCCG had a recent phone conversation with the Leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC). We would like to inform the general public that this is false and Pastor E.A Adeboye has not and would not be involved in inter /intra partypolitics in Nigeria and anywhere RCCG is present across the world. Pastor E.A Adeboye advices all well meaning Nigerians just like him to get their PVC’s and exercise their civic duty.
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria
