Nigeria have beaten Chad 3-0 (25-14, 25-23, 25-15) and also booked a place to play for the fifth position at the ongoing 2018 Men’s U-21 African Volleyball Nations Championship in Abuja.

To secure the fifth position, Nigeria must beat DR Congo when they meet on Tuesday, 18th September at the National Stadium Package B.

After losing to Rwanda in the last group match, the Nigerians had to beat Chad to restore their confidence and repay the fans loyalty.

Nigeria won the first set convincingly by 25-12 but had to fight to win the second. The boys were leading 22-13 points during the second game but lost concentration. The Chadian team capitalized on the technical errors to equalize 22-22.

Nigeria had to dig deep and eventually won by 28-26 points.

The third set eventually went Nigeria’s way 25-22.

In the other matches played, Egypt and Tunisia figured out another classic final as they captured respective wins against Rwanda and Morocco respectively in the semi-finals.

Tunisia overcame Morocco 3-0 (25-12, 28-26, 25-20) to book a place in the final and their first ticket to next year’s FIVB Men’s U-21 World Championship.

Egypt outclassed Rwanda 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-22) with the support of the fans to pick the second final berth and set up a clash against arch-rivals Tunisia on Thursday.
