Nigeria’s Falconets clinched the 2025 WAFU B U-20 Girls Cup title with a dominant 3-0 win over Ghana’s Black Princesses on Tuesday at the Stade Omnisport d’Adjohoun in Benin Republic.

The result confirmed Nigeria as champions of the three-nation tournament after a flawless run of performances throughout the competition.

Janet Akekoromowei and Ramotalahi Kareem were on the scoresheet once again as the Falconets delivered another emphatic display.

Akekoromowei broke the deadlock in the 17th minute, while Alaba Olabiyi made it 2-0 just seven minutes later.

Kareem sealed the win in the 61st minute to cap off a commanding performance by the Nigerian side.

The Black Princesses, who had earlier fallen 3-1 to the Falconets on Saturday, were unable to match the Nigerians’ pace and intensity, finding themselves two goals down before the 25th minute.

With the victory, Nigeria ended the group campaign with nine points and a +8 goal difference, maintaining their impressive streak of scoring three goals in every match.

Ghana finished second with six points after beating hosts Benin earlier in the competition.

The triumph marked Nigeria’s second consecutive win over Ghana in the tournament, following their 3-1 victory in the opener where Akekoromowei scored twice and Favour Chiamaka added a late goal.

On Sunday, the Falconets also thrashed Benin 3-0, with Kareem netting a brace and Precious Oscar coming off the bench to add the third, further underlining their attacking strength and defensive organisation.

Having already secured the title with a game to spare, Nigeria’s final fixture against Benin on Wednesday will be a formality, as they have mathematically sealed the top spot.

Coach Moses Aduku’s team has been in scintillating form throughout the competition, combining tactical discipline with creativity in attack. Standout players such as Akekoromowei, Kareem, and Olabiyi have been instrumental in maintaining Nigeria’s dominance as back-to-back WAFU B champions.
