Remita, Nigeria’s leading financial technology brand, and Paga, the foremost mobile money service provider in the country have partnered to extend the frontiers of electronic payments in Nigeria.

According to a recent announcement, the first phase of the collaboration which comes amid the Covid-19 pandemic would enable Paga customers to make payments end-to-end to all Remita billers and merchants right from Paga’s web channel – paga.com. Paga’s agents nationwide would also be able to process commence and complete payments to all Remita customers from their platforms.

The immediate impact of the collaboration on the public is the easy generation of Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) and payments into the Federal Government’s Treasury Single Account. It would also enable payments to other Remita billers such as state governments, tertiary institutions and other organisations by Paga customers and agents directly through Paga platforms.

The initiative is expected to make electronic payments more attractive and less stressful for customers regardless of their needs and location. The partnership has been applauded by industry enthusiasts as charting the path for deeper collaboration within the fintech ecosystem.

According to Ezinne Obikile, Executive Director, Infrastructure and Payments Gateway at SystemSpecs, providers of Remita: “SystemSpecs is committed to driving financial inclusion and providing payment convenience to all, which underscores this strategic partnership with Paga to extend a wide range of financial solutions and services to customers everywhere, even at a time as this.”
