The Nigeria national football team, the Super Eagles, have climbed to 26th position in the latest FIFA World Ranking released on January 19, moving up an impressive 12 places.

Nigeria rose from 38th position following a strong showing at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, where the Super Eagles won a bronze medal.

The three-time African champions are now ranked as the third-best team in Africa, behind AFCON champions Senegal, who are 12th on the FIFA World ranking, and hosts Morocco, ranked eighth in the world.

Algeria and Egypt occupy fourth and fifth positions, respectively, on the African rankings.

In the world ranking, Spain, Argentina, France, England, Brazil, Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Croatia make up FIFA’s current top 10 teams.
