The Super Falcons have kicked off full training in Lomé as they prepare for their 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final qualifying first-leg encounter against Benin Republic, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

According to an update from the team’s media officer on Monday evening, the training session was completed successfully, with defender Tosin Demehin being the latest player to link up with the squad.

So far, nine players are in camp, including six-time African Footballer of the Year, Asisat Oshoala; newcomer Joy Omewa; China-based striker Folashade Ijamilusi; and five home-based stars, goalkeeper Anderline Mgbechi, defenders Blessing Ilivieda and Miracle Usani, midfielder Taiwo Afolabi, and forward Kafayat Mafisere.

Head coach Justine Madugu expressed satisfaction with the team’s early start, noting that training sessions will continue through the week as the players sharpen tactics ahead of the vital qualifier.

The reigning African champions will face the Benin senior women’s team at the 25,000-capacity Stade de Kégué in Lomé on Friday, with kickoff set for 4 p.m. Nigeria time.

This fixture marks the final qualifying round for the 2026 WAFCON, which will take place in Morocco. The tournament will also serve as Africa’s qualification route to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

The reverse fixture is scheduled for Tuesday, October 28, at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta.

For officiating duties, CAF has appointed Gambian referee Ngum Fatou, assisted by Mauritanians Mariem Chedad and Hamedine Houleye. Fellow Gambian Isatou Touray will act as fourth official, Niger’s Halimatou Hamidou as match commissioner, and Malawi’s Martha Nyekanyeka as referee assessor.
