The Nigerian government has apologised for “mistakes” made during the burial of President Muhammadu Buhari’s chief of staff, Abba Kyari, who died from coronavirus.

Tendering the apology was the chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Mr Boss Mustapha during the daily briefing by the task force.

His words, “the PTF recognises, regrettably, the unintentional violation of the principles and protocols that form the core of our message to Nigerians at the funeral of the late chief of staff.”

This is after people were pictured in huddles around the grave site on 18 April, not observing strict rules on mass gatherings, social distancing or personal hygiene.
