Nigeria’s Odion Ighalo is wanted by six Premier League clubs in the January transfer window, according to TEAMtalk.

The former Watford striker wants to leave Chinese Super League club Shenhua to move back to England. Six clubs, including Watford, Everton and Newcastle United, are ready to swoop.

Shenhua would reportedly allow the Nigeria international to leave on loan in January with an option to buy. This situation has alerted his former club Watford and five other top-flight clubs in England.

Everton, Newcastle, Crystal Palace, Southampton and West Ham would all consider signing Ighalo this winter. The 30-year-old has 10 goals in 17 league games for Shenhua this season so he is still finding the net.

Is Greg Docherty’s time finally up at Rangers? Should he be sold in January?
Previously, at Watford, Ighalo netted 17 times in 55 games. He is open to a return to England so there could be a transfer battle this January.

On loan, Ighalo could be a cheap solution for all of these clubs who need a striker. Everton are not getting the best out of Moise Kean so Ighalo would provide an experienced alternative. Meanwhile, Newcastle’s strikers have one goal between them this season.

Ighalo might not be the same striker he once was. But on loan, this would be a low-risk gamble that could pay off for one of these six Premier League sides.
