Court’s ruling on the release of Nigeria’s Islamic leader, Sheik El-Zakzaky and the president’s acceptance has continued to receive commendation even from the opposition party.

In a tweet Tuesday morning, the country’s former Aviation minister and political analyst, Femi Fani-Kayode applauded President Muhammadu Buhari for honouring court’s order.

Fani-Kayode, a member of the People’s Democratic Party who is known to be a critique of the All Progressives Congress’ administration charged the president to apply same wisdom in the case of Col. Sambo Dasuki who has been in solitary confinement for the past three years despite numerous court orders to release him.

Dasuki was taken into custody by the State Security Service in 2015 for the alleged embezzlement of $2.1billion and awarding phantom contracts to buy helicopters, fighter jets, and ammunition meant for Nigeria’s military campaign against the Boko Haram Islamic sect.

FFK as he is fondly called also clamoured for the release of Omoyele Sowore, leader of the Revolution Now movement who was arrested by the DSS for championing an anti-government protest.

He wrote “I commend @MBuhari for honoring the court order and releasing Sheik El ZakZaky. I urge him to release Col. Sambo Dasuki, who has been in solitary confinement for the last 3 years despite numerous court orders to release him, @YeleSowore @dadiyata and all other pol. prisoners.”

However, Nigerians would have none of the commendations as according to them, the president is not deserving of it. They challenged the reasoning behind the applause to a president whom they said chooses when, how and the manner with which he obeys court orders.
