Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu On Tuesday, 30th July, signed a cooperation agreement with the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA).

According to the governor, this will help promote a better working relationship between the Lagos state and the Waterways Authority.

He also pointed out that the state will through the development, maximise the opportunity to accelerate investment in water transportation.

Sanwo-Olu made this known on Twitter where he wrote “today, I signed a cooperation agreement on behalf of Lagos State with the National Inland Waterways Authority to promote a better working relationship.”

The gesture puts an end to a 10-year legal tussle between the Federal Government and Lagos State Governments over which of them controls waterways in Lagos with huge economic potential.
