Arsenal’s teenage midfielder, Xavier Amaechi has emerged as a rumoured transfer target for German champions Bayern Munich, reports sportsmole.co.uk.

The 18-year-old of Nigerian parentage is highly regarded at the Emirates Stadium and was awarded a professional deal last year that runs through until 2022. Amaechi is a winger by trade and has been on target a few times in Premier League 2 this season, which, according to Football. London has attracted the interest of Bayern.

Following the success of fellow English youngster, Jadon Sancho this term, the same report indicates that Borussia Dortmund is themselves tempted to make a move for Amaechi, who also qualifies for Nigeria. Scouts from a number of other German clubs were expected to be in attendance for Arsenal Under-23s’ meeting with Swansea City Under-23s yesterday.

Bayern Munich was hell-bent on snapping up Callum Hudson-Odoi during the January transfer window, but they failed in their pursuit as Chelsea refused his sale. Amaechi is an exciting dribbler with a dangerous left-peg. Arsenal’s official club website describes him as a classy player on the ball.

“2017/18 proved to be a breakthrough year for Xavier. Not only did he show his quality for the under-18s, scoring 10 goals in 15 appearances, including five in the FA Youth Cup, he also made six starts in the Premier League 2, recording three assists as one of the side’s main sources of creativity,” the website adds. Bayern Munich is not the only team monitoring Amaechi. It’s believed clubs from Spain, Italy, and France are tracking his services ahead of potentially tabling a bid in the summer.
