A Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Maitama has ordered that the immediate-past Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal be remanded in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) till tomorrow.

The former SGF and five others charged along with him, pleaded not guilty to the 10-count charge bothering on conspiracy and fraud levelled against him.

His lawyer, Akin Olujinmi (SAN) subsequently asked the court to grant him bail on self-recognizance.

The other defendants’ lawyers also made bail applications for their clients.

However, counsel for the EFCC opposed the bail application.

The trial judge, Justice Jude Okeke thereafter, adjourned the matter to tomorrow for ruling on the bail applications.

He therefore, ordered that the defendants be remanded in the custody of the EFCC pending the ruling on their bail applications.
