A pastor of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Josiah Akinsuyi, has been arrested for sexually assaulting, molesting and impregnating a 16-year-old girl.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State command, on Wednesday, arrested Akinsuyi after the father of the young girl reported the case at the command.

The victim, who is four months pregnant, was said to have confessed to her parent.

Speaking on the arrest, the State Commandant of NSCDC, Mr Pedro Awili, said the underage girl, who was living around the Church at Abusoro in Ijoka area of Akure, was seduced and lured with money by the pastor.

According to the commandant, the pastor was introduced to the girl by one Sunday Babatunde when he was transferred to the church.

Babatunde was reportedly sleeping with the girl.

He noted that one of the sisters of the victim knew about the development, saying an investigation revealed that the girl’s sister had to intervene before the victim could cooperate with the pastor.

Awilo said the victim confessed that the pastor had been sleeping with her in one of the classrooms in the school belonging to the pastor’s wife.

 

“The young girl said the man has been sleeping with her in the classroom of one private school owned by Pastor Akinsuyi’s wife. Though the pastor denied having any intercourse with the girl”

The girl, however, maintained that the Pastor was responsible for the pregnancy, and said the Pastor promised to give her N50,000 but failed to fulfill his promise because she refused to allow him to sleep with her again.

She stated that she discovered that she was pregnant after her parent forced her to the hospital for a pregnancy test.

However, Akinsuyi denied sleeping with the underage girl, saying it was a deliberate attempt to smear his image, noting that all the allegations were strange to him.
