A chief magistrate court sitting in No Man’s Land Kano has ordered the remand of a 30-year-old man, Danlami Lawan for allegedly defiling a 5-year-old girl.

Lawan, a resident of Gobirawa Dan-Dinshe quarters of Dala Local government area, was charged on one-count charge for rape, contrary to section 283 of the penal code law.

The prosecutor Inspector Jacob Yaduma told the court that the offence was committed on 16th September, 2018 at the residence of the accused.

Yaduma said the father of the victim, Alhaji Ali Saidu of Gobirawa Dukawa quarters, reported at Dala division that the accused person deceitfully took the girl to his room and gave her N5 after knowing her canal knowledge.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The presiding judged, chief magistrate Mukhtar Garba Dandago, ordered the remand of the accused person in prison custody and adjourned the matter to October 22nd for further mention.

The chief magistrate also ordered that the police should submit the case dairy to the Department of Public Prosecution (DPP), office of the attorney general and commissioner for justice for advice.
